At approximately 4 am (August 17, 2014), a fire broke out in the parking building of Phramongkutklao Hospital, 315 Ratchawithi Road, Thung Phaya Thai Subdistrict, Ratchathewi District, Bangkok. Officers from the Phaya Thai Fire and Rescue Station rushed to the scene to put out the fire. Initial findings indicate that the scene of the fire was a 10-story parking building of Phramongkutklao Hospital. The fire was found to have spread to the 9th floor of the parking lot on the 9th floor B, damaging 6 cars parked there. Officers rushed to use water to put out the fire for over 20 minutes before it was extinguished. There were no injuries or deaths. Of the 6 cars that were damaged, 3 were completely damaged: a black Mazda, an Isuzu pickup truck, and a Honda. The rest had damage to the paint and windows: a bronze Nissan pickup truck, a bronze Toyo ta, and a red MG. Initial investigations found that the vehicle that started the fire was a black Mazda that used gasoline as fuel. The cause of the fire is still unknown. Meanwhile, investigators at Phaya Thai Police Station will invite the owner of the vehicle that caused the accident and the owner of the damaged vehicle to be questioned and negotiate the damages. One of the owners of the damaged vehicle is a doctor who was on duty treating patients at the hospital. He parked his car at the scene of the incident 1 day before the incident, causing damages of over 1.8 million baht. In addition, the parking building of Phramongkutklao Hospital had an accident in May where a pickup truck crashed into another pickup truck, broke through the barrier and fell from the 4th floor of the parking building to the ground below.
