Most recently, a grocery store was tricked into buying things, pretending to transfer money but not paying, resulting in a loss of over 1,000 baht. Facebook user Pim Phutpichaya posted a CCTV image, warning in the Nonthaburi news group about a scammer who forged a shopping slip and pretended to transfer money but did not pay. In the image, a young woman can be seen walking into a grocery store to buy something, standing in front of the store, not going in to choose anything, and trying to ask for the price of the product while pressing her phone, as if she had calculated the price of the product immediately, while glancing at the QR code the whole time but not raising her phone to scan it. When the vendor put the product in a bag, the woman showed the money transfer slip, but when the vendor turned around to grab her phone to check the notification of the money deposit, the woman quickly walked away, and the vendor could not catch up. The news team went to the scene of the incident, Soi Rewadee 32, Talat Khwan Subdistrict, Mueang District, Nonthaburi Province. It was a shophouse-style grocery store that had a picture of the scammer in front of the store to warn people. We spoke to Ms. Phichya, 50 years old, the owner of the grocery store, who said that the incident occurred at around 8:50 p.m. on July 6, 2024. A young woman came to buy things at the store, totaling 1,053 baht. But what was strange was that the woman did not walk into the store. She stood outside the store ordering and asked to transfer money to pay, which had a QR Code posted in front of the store for her to scan and pay. When the woman scanned to pay, she showed me the slip. However, I noticed that there was no message popping up on the customer's phone like other people did when they pressed confirm. I was suspicious and told her to wait a moment. I would go check my phone to see if the money had been transferred. However, the scammer quickly walked away. The re was no money transferred to my phone as stated on the slip. I followed her. It turned out that the woman had disappeared. When I checked the security camera footage, I saw that the woman had not scanned the QR Code attached to the door to pay.
