Four Vietnamese Nationals Found Dead in Suspected Carbon Monoxide Incident in Taoyuan

Taoyuan: Four Vietnamese nationals were discovered dead in an apartment in Taoyuan, in a case currently under investigation as a suspected carbon monoxide poisoning, as reported by the police on Sunday.

According to Focus Taiwan, the Taoyuan Police Department’s Yangmei Precinct was alerted around 10 p.m. on Saturday to check on the tenants of a rental unit in Yangmei District after friends were unable to contact them for several days. Upon arrival, officers discovered two males and two females, all Vietnamese nationals, deceased inside the residence with no apparent signs of struggle or injury.

A preliminary investigation by authorities indicated that carbon monoxide poisoning was the likely cause of death. To confirm this, autopsies have been requested from Taoyuan prosecutors. The victims were identified as a 22-year-old man surnamed Nguy?n, a 27-year-old man surnamed Tr?n, both of whom were absconded migrant workers, a 23-year-old female migrant worker also surnamed Nguy?n, and a 20-year-old female exchange student surnamed Phan.

Police reported that the 22-year-old Nguy?n was found on the bathroom floor, with the hot water running and the door and window closed. Phan was discovered in a bedroom, while Tr?n and the 23-year-old Nguy?n were found in another bedroom. There were no indications of forced entry or theft at the scene.

In addition to requesting autopsies, the police have notified Vietnam’s representative office in Taiwan and plan to examine recent surveillance footage from the area to aid in their investigation.
