Heavy Rainfall and Weather Fronts to Impact Taiwan in Coming Week

Taipei: Taiwan’s Central Weather Administration (CWA) has issued a warning for localized heavy rain in central and southern Taiwan, expected to begin from Sunday night due to moisture transported by southwesterly winds.

According to Focus Taiwan, CWA forecaster Chen Pei-an indicated that this rainfall could persist into Monday. Additionally, a weather front is anticipated to make its presence felt on Tuesday and Wednesday, bringing showers across the island and localized heavy downpours in western regions. Chen noted that the likelihood of significant precipitation would increase in western Taiwan and mountainous areas on Tuesday.

Brief showers are predicted for northern and northeastern Taiwan on Wednesday, while western Taiwan should remain vigilant for heavy rainfalls. On Thursday, the weather front is expected to progress towards the Bashi Channel, but central and southern Taiwan may still experience scattered showers or thunderstorms.

As the week progresses, from Friday through Sunday, increased moisture due to winds will likely cause brief showers in southern and eastern Taiwan, along with localized afternoon thunderstorms in other areas, as reported by Chen.
