Taipei: Taiwan-based manufacturing giant Hon Hai Precision Industry Co. announced its ambitious plan to achieve 100 percent reliance on green electricity at its global production sites by 2040. This commitment was highlighted in the company's latest annual sustainability report, as stated by Young Liu, the chairman of Hon Hai, which is globally known as Foxconn.
According to Focus Taiwan, the report underscores the company's dedication to advancing energy conservation, carbon reduction, renewable energy, green manufacturing, and the circular economy. Hon Hai is making significant strides towards its 2040 goal of complete green power usage across its plants worldwide and aims for net-zero emissions throughout its value chain by 2050.
Liu emphasized the importance of the natural environment as crucial capital for the enterprise's long-term development. He stated that the company invests in water resource management, waste circularity, biodiversity, and nature conservation to foster a positive cycle between corporate growth and environmental sustainability.
Hon Hai reported that green power constituted 68.37 percent of its total power consumption globally in 2025, surpassing its original target of 50 percent by 2030. This progress was facilitated by the company's policies on large green power procurement and the integration of renewable energy into production processes. In 2025, the company directly procured 1,870.28 GWh of green electricity and obtained 4,849.15 GWh of renewable electricity through power trading arrangements.
The company has implemented a green energy diversification policy to boost energy supply resilience and enhance electricity use efficiency through clean technologies. Regarding solar energy projects, Hon Hai revealed that its major plant sites in Taiwan, Vietnam, and several Chinese cities have a combined installed and planned capacity of approximately 125.68 MW, with an estimated annual power generation of around 117 million kWh.
In its supply chain efforts, Hon Hai reported that by the end of 2025, it had secured emissions reduction agreements from 56 suppliers via the "Supplier ESG Digital Management Platform," committing to 100 percent green power usage for Hon Hai products. This achievement exceeded its previous target of 45 suppliers, with a new goal of 150 suppliers by 2030.
Finally, Hon Hai noted its continued expansion in developing clean technologies and services. In 2025, clean technology products and services at its cloud service subsidiary, Foxconn Industrial Internet (FII), accounted for 76.53 percent of the unit's total sales. Cloud computing and high-efficiency data center solutions comprised 66.75 percent of the unit's total revenue.
