Taipei: Taiwan-based Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., better known globally as Foxconn, unveiled its new “Foxconn Genesis” robotics development platform at Computex Taipei 2025 on Tuesday. In his keynote speech, Chairman Young Liu highlighted the company’s intention to revolutionize the traditional robotics landscape by leveraging artificial intelligence to create robots with capabilities beyond the conventional focus on developing eyes and arms.
According to Focus Taiwan, the Foxconn Genesis platform was developed in collaboration with U.S. AI chipmaker Nvidia Corp. and its Omniverse platform. The initiative aims to equip robots with a “brain” that can transform manufacturing and supply chains. Nvidia’s Omniverse provides developers with the tools to build AI-powered services for industrial digitalization, enabling Foxconn to simulate numerous training cycles, thereby allowing robots to think and operate almost immediately upon deployment.
Liu emphasized that Foxconn’s smart platforms-Smart Manufacturing, S
mart EV, and Smart City-are interconnected through Nvidia’s advanced technologies. The collaboration seeks to accelerate the advent of AI-powered factories and propel enterprise IT transformation. Omniverse also facilitates companies to test and optimize operations in a digital twin environment before implementing cost-effective changes in the real world.
Foxconn Genesis is described as foundational technology for creating intelligent robots that can handle complex tasks and integrate innovations such as Token storage technologies for large-scale AI deployment in production lines. Liu pointed out that AI technologies are rapidly redefining future factories. Hon Hai is utilizing AI agents, which are autonomous systems performing expert-level tasks like flaw detection and equipment calibration, to manage up to 80 percent of routine factory work, enabling human workers to concentrate on more intricate responsibilities.
At a time when many are hesitant to accept low-paying jobs, Liu remarked that the integratio
n of AI and robotics presents a viable solution for business transformation. Under its “3 plus 3” strategy, Hon Hai-known for assembling Apple’s iPhones-has been actively diversifying its business, focusing on electric vehicles, robotics, and digital healthcare. These efforts are spurred by advancements in AI, semiconductors, and communication technologies.
