Wales: Taiwan’s Hsu Wei-ling recorded a career-best performance at the Women’s British Open on Sunday, tying for sixth place with a 6-under-par 282. She shot a 70 in the final round, scoring three birdies, three bogeys, and an eagle on the par-5 sixth hole. The result marked the third top-10 finish in a major tournament of Hsu’s career.

According to Focus Taiwan, the Women’s British Open, the final of the five major championships on the 2025 LPGA Tour, was held in Wales and featured a total prize purse of US$9.5 million. Both Taiwanese players, Hsu and Yani Tseng, made the cut. Hsu opened the final round with two bogeys but bounced back with a birdie on the fourth and an eagle on the par-5 sixth to steady her round.

Hsu expressed that she was nervous early on and played too fast but settled down after her birdie on the fourth and “got back into [her] usual rhythm” following the eagle on the sixth. This was Hsu’s eighth appearance at the Women’s British Open, surpassing her previous best finish of tied for 23rd in 2017. With her tie for sixth, she earned US$302,000 and climbed to 52nd in the LPGA rankings.

Also on Sunday, Taiwanese veteran Yani Tseng shot a 76 in the final round to finish tied for 63rd at 11-over 299. Tseng made her Women’s British Open debut in 2008, finishing runner-up before winning back-to-back titles in 2010 and 2011. This year marked her 13th appearance and her first time making the cut at the event since 2017, with a two-round total of 145.

Despite a challenging weekend, Tseng stated that the tournament was the happiest she has felt playing golf in years, adding that it helped her rediscover herself after injuries, surgery, and a long slump. “Even when facing tough situations on the course, I felt confident I could handle them,” she said. Tseng is set to compete in the Ladies European Tour’s London Championship later this week.
