Indonesian Migrant Worker Crushed in Fatal Chiayi Workplace Accident

Chiayi: A 30-year-old Indonesian migrant worker died Monday after being crushed by an iron pipe while working in a factory in an industrial zone in Chiayi County. The incident occurred at a factory in the Minsyong Industrial Park, highlighting concerns over workplace safety in the region.

According to Focus Taiwan, the county’s Fire Bureau received a report around 1:20 p.m. concerning an occupational incident at the factory. The worker was reportedly pinned under an iron pipe, prompting an immediate response from rescue personnel.

Upon arrival, rescue personnel found the worker in a state of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. Despite receiving emergency treatment on-site, the worker was transported to Chiayi Christian Hospital for further resuscitation efforts but was ultimately pronounced dead.

The cause of the accident is currently under investigation, as authorities seek to determine the circumstances leading to the tragic event. The incident underscores the importance of stringent safety protocols in industrial workplaces to prevent such occurrences.
