Indonesia’s missions ready to support 2024 elections abroad

Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs ensured that Indonesia’s diplomatic missions abroad are ready to support the implementation of the 2024 General Elections.The ministry’s spokesperson, Lalu Muhamad Iqbal, explained that the first role of Indonesian Embassies (KBRI), Indonesian Consulate Generals (KJRI), and Indonesian Consulates (KRI) in various countries is preparing the overseas voters roll (DPTLN). “The most complete initial data of Indonesians abroad is in each mission, and that data becomes the basis for creating the DPTLN,” he noted at a press conference here on Friday. ccording to Iqbal, the overseas voters’ roll for the 2024 General Elections had been submitted to the General Elections Commission (KPU) on September 14, 2022. fter completing the data, the Indonesian missions also facilitated the formation of Overseas Election Committees (PPLN) that consist of Indonesians abroad. “In some missions, there are also mission staff, who become PPLN (members) due to many reasons, such as being proposed by the Indonesian people or because there are no more Indonesian people there, except those who live in the mission environment,” he explained. “All PPLN have offices at Indonesian missions abroad,” he remarked.
