The Investigation Bureau said Monday that it is probing the sale of documents online that are being advertised as classified Taiwanese intelligence files.

According to a Liberty Times report, the advertisement published recently in an international online forum contained confidential documents allegedly from Taiwan’s intelligence agencies.

The forum post also provided snippets of the information, detailing individuals the agencies have gathered intelligence on, the report said.

It was not immediately known why these people were targeted, but the information in the report included descriptions of the work, hobbies, politics and personality of the targeted individuals.

The seller is asking US$150,000 for 10 Gigabyte of classified data, the report said.

On Monday, the Investigation Bureau under the Ministry of Justice said it was aware of the situation and is investigating the case, but cannot disclose details of an ongoing investigation.
