Largan Precision Co. Invests NT$3.08 Billion in Taichung Property to Boost CPO Development

Taipei: Taiwan-based smartphone camera lens supplier Largan Precision Co. has announced its fourth land acquisition of the year, purchasing land and a building in Taichung for NT$3.08 billion (US$96.63 million) to enhance production capabilities.

According to Focus Taiwan, the company revealed in a post to the Taiwan Stock Exchange that the newly acquired land spans about 20,800 square meters, while the building offers a floor area of approximately 23,319 square meters. Although Largan has not explicitly stated the acquisition's purpose, analysts speculate it will support the company's efforts in developing CPO-related products, including fiber array units, which Largan has recently incorporated into its product range.

The property is strategically located near Largan's headquarters in the Nantun District of Taichung. Largan, a key supplier to Apple Inc., confirmed that the property was purchased from Ke Hung Industrial Co. The acquisition's connection to the CPO product line follows remarks by Largan Chairman Adam Lin, who recently announced the company's first fiber array unit orders, with trial production slated for the end of the third quarter.

Lin also mentioned that Largan anticipates revenue from its fiber array units to begin in mid-2027 at the earliest. The announcement of the property deal sparked significant interest in Largan shares, which surged by 10 percent, reaching the maximum daily increase to NT$6,290.00. This performance outpaced the Taiwan Stock Exchange's benchmark index, the Taiex, which rose 1.35 percent to 45,778.60. The news also positively impacted other CPO-related stocks, with EZconn Corp. experiencing a rise of 1.56 percent to NT$1,630.00.
