Hualien: A magnitude 4.1 earthquake struck Hualien County, eastern Taiwan, at 4:43 a.m. Saturday, according to the Central Weather Administration (CWA). There were no immediate reports of damage following the quake. According to Focus Taiwan, the epicenter was located 19.3 kilometers west southwest of Hualien County Hall at a depth of 19.3 km, as per CWA data. The intensity of the quake, which gauges the actual effect of a seismic event, measured 4 on Taiwan's 7-tier intensity scale in some areas of Hualien County. The quake also registered an intensity of 2 in Nantou County in central Taiwan. Additionally, it measured an intensity of 1 in Taichung City and Changhua County in central Taiwan, as well as Yilan in the northeast, the CWA indicated.
