Meta Launches Meta One Subscription Service in Taiwan

Taipei: Meta Platforms Inc. announced Tuesday the official launch of Meta One in Taiwan, a subscription service bundling premium features, artificial intelligence (AI) usage quotas, and advanced creative tools across Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp.

According to Focus Taiwan, the company stated that single-product plans start at NT$49 (US$1.54) per month for WhatsApp Plus, while Instagram Plus and Facebook Plus cost NT$69 each. Cross-platform Core plans begin at NT$159, and Premium plans begin at NT$519 per month. Plans designed for creators and businesses range from NT$369 up to NT$8,999 for the top-tier option, or NT$11,400 via in-app purchase.

Meta said the service, targeting individual power users, creators, and small businesses, has attracted more than 15 million subscribers and trial users globally. The initial rollout includes more than 50 features, while core functions of its platforms will remain free. Meta Vice President of Subscriptions Helen Ma noted at an online briefing that the company is introducing subscriptions to offer more professional tools and AI capabilities for users who need them, while maintaining its advertising-supported free services.

Subscriptions will also help Meta establish a more stable recurring revenue stream beyond digital advertising, Ma said, adding that the service could support small businesses through AI agents within Meta's ecosystem. Ma added that Meta currently has no plans to introduce a paid ad-free option, emphasizing the company's commitment to its free, ad-supported model.
