Ms. Ramrung Worawat, Director-General of the Department of Older Persons Ministry of Social Development and Human Security (PhD) reveals the case of the Ministry of Interior has revised the rules for paying old age allowances of local government organizations B.E. 2566, which was announced in the Government Gazette on August 11, 2023 and took effect on August 12, 2023, resulting in changes in the payment of old age allowance. Due to improvements in the qualifications of those who are entitled to the old age allowance, item 6(4), is a person who has no income or has insufficient income for living as prescribed by the National Committee on the Elderly under the law on the elderly.
The new regulations stipulate a transitional provision, Article 17, paragraph 1, for those elderly people who have registered and received the old age allowance from the local government organization. Before this regulation comes into force, they still have the right to continue receiving old age allowance from that local government organization. The qualifications of eligible persons under Clause 6(4) have not yet been determined for local government organizations to use the qualifications of recipients of the old age allowance according to the Ministry of Interior Regulation on Criteria for Elderly Allowance Payment of Local Administrative Organizations B.E. 2552. and the amendments for the time being
Ms. Ramrung added that for the issue of improving such regulations which is the authority of the Ministry of the Interior It does not affect the elderly who received the same pension allowance. And still have the right to receive a living allowance from the local government organization The Interior Ministry will clarify in detail later.
