A municipal councilor of Seoul's Seongdong Ward attended an arrest warrant hearing Friday on charges of allegedly raping a drunk bar waitress. The Seoul Central District Court began the hearing at 10:10 a.m. for the councilor, surnamed Koh, on charges of special quasi-rape. Koh, 33, is accused of raping the waitress who was drunk at the time at a bar in Seoul's southern district of Seocho in April. Police sought an arrest warrant for him earlier this week. He reportedly claimed the sexual encounter was "consensual." Koh, who was elected as a council member in 2022 affiliated with the Democratic Party, recently left the party and is now an independent.
