NFA, PKK to set up food houses at 70 locations

Jakarta (ANTARA) – The National Food Agency (NFA) is working with the central family welfare and empowerment (PKK) mobilization team to set up diverse, nutritionally balanced, and safe food houses at 70 locations.The cooperation is a follow-up to a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed by the NFA head and the PKK mobilization team’s chairperson on May 17, 2023, in Medan city, North Sumatra, NFA’sDeputy for Consumption Diversification and Food SecurityAndriko Noto Susantosaid here on Tuesday. The NFA is aware of the importance of families’ role in growing the community’s knowledge, understanding, and awareness about consuming diverse, nutritionally balanced, and safe food, Susanto noted. The cooperation is expected to strengthen food and nutrition security through two strategic steps, namely, the acceleration of food consumption diversification and the reduction of stunting and food and nutrition insecurity. The fulfillment of quality food through the diversification of food consumption is crucial as an essential component to realizing quality, healthy, active, and productive human resources. “The fulfillment of food needs for the community is not only emphasized in the aspect of quantity, but also quality, including the diversity of local foods, nutritional balance, as well as environmental sustainability,” he said. He further said that the effort is in line with the program to improve the Desirable Dietary Pattern (PPH) score. s a manifestation of the cooperation between the NFA and the PKK mobilization team, the pilot project of the diverse, nutritionally balanced, and safe food house program has been carried out in Binjai city, North Sumatra. The cooperation between the two parties also extends to the Save Food Movement for reducing food waste, for which pilot projects were carried out earlier in Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi (Jabodetabek). The movement will be expanded to 12 provinces in the country.
