Northeasterly Winds to Bring Rain to Northern and Eastern Taiwan Over Holiday Weekend

Taipei:Seasonal northeasterly winds are expected to bring intermittent rain to northern and eastern Taiwan from Friday through Sunday, while other parts of the country will see cloudy skies with periods of sunshine.

According to Focus Taiwan, during the three-day National Day holiday weekend starting Friday, the greater Taipei area and eastern Taiwan will experience increased moisture, with heavier rain anticipated on Sunday, as reported by Central Weather Administration (CWA) forecaster Chang Cheng-chuan.

Areas south of Taoyuan are forecast to have partly cloudy to sunny skies, with potential isolated afternoon showers in southern mountainous regions. This weather pattern is expected to continue through next Thursday due to the seasonal northeasterly winds.

Nationwide, the lowest temperatures are forecast to remain between 22-25 degrees Celsius over the coming week, with some areas possibly being 1-2 degrees cooler. Daytime highs are anticipated to reach 28-30 degrees in northern Taiwan and 33-34 degrees in central and southern areas, with some places experiencing larger day-night temperature variations.

The CWA noted that Tropical Storm Nolo, the year's 27th storm, was approximately 3,250 kilometers east of Taipei as of 2 p.m. and moving northwest, while Tropical Storm Koguma, the 28th storm, was about 4,080 kilometers east of Taipei and moving west-northwest. Neither system is expected to impact Taiwan, and no other tropical systems are forecast to develop over the next week.
