Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) asks the public to closely follow weather news and warnings from government agencies and related agencies to prepare for flooding at all times. PEA has the following recommendations for the public regarding electricity usage in the event of flooding or waterlogging for safety: Before the flood enters your home or surrounding area, quickly move electrical equipment and necessary items to a higher place or a safe place where the flood cannot reach. In the case of single-storey houses, absolutely do not use electricity. Do not use any electrical devices. While wet or standing in water, do not turn on or off the light switch. Do not use electrical plugs that are flooded because it can be life-threatening. In the case of a two-story house with separate switches for each floor, if water is about to flood the ground floor, turn off the power switch only for the ground floor. If the water is flooding for a long time and it is necessary to live in the house, use electrical appliances on the upper floor by having a Provincial Electricity Authority officer or an electrician with knowledge and expertise in electrical systems turn off the switch on the lower floor. For safety, consult a Provincial Electricity Authority officer or an electrician to separate the circuits on the upper and lower floors.
