SEOUL, Prime Minister Han Duck-soo ordered all-out efforts Tuesday to prevent damage from torrential downpours this week. As heavy rain pounded the country, Han ordered a thorough inspection of evacuation and safety measures for residents in areas vulnerable to landslides and flooding as heavy rain pounded the country. He also gave instructions for officials to take preemptive measures in controlling access to areas at risk of flooding. Furthermore, Han ordered government officials, police and firefighters to maintain a round-the-clock emergency system in areas where torrential rain is expected.
