Power outage hits over 1,000 households in Taipei’s Xinyi District

More than a thousand households in Taipei’s Xinyi District were left without electricity at noon Thursday due to a power outage, which Taiwan’s state utility company said it was working to resolve.

The outages which occurred at 12:04 p.m. affected around 1,021 households on Yongji Road and Hulin Street, Taiwan Power Co. (Taipower) said.

According to Taipower, the problem was due to an electrical switch having tripped.

Technicians were immediately deployed to resolve the issue and only 18 households had yet to see their power restored as of 1:36 p.m., the company said.
