Science Minister nominee Yoo Sang-im is a professor of material engineering at Seoul National University with expertise in superconductor and magnetic materials. Yoo, 65, earned his bachelor's degree at the university in 1982 and his doctorate at the Iowa State University in the United States in 1992 for materials engineering. "I will spare no effort to help our nation lead the way, while appropriately responding to fields that are undergoing rapid change in the era of the fourth industrial revolution," Yoo told reporters. Yoo also said that he would address concerns about budget for research and development. He did a postdoc at the Ames Research Center under the U.S. Department of Energy from 1992-93. He headed numerous academies, including the Korean Society of Superconductivity and Cryogenics and the Korean Ceramic Society. Source: Yonhap News Agency
