Roh Si-hwan, the reigning home run king in South Korean baseball, will miss at least three weeks with a shoulder injury, his club said Monday. The Hanwha Eagles of the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) said Roh has been diagnosed with partial damage to the labrum in his left shoulder, following tests on Saturday and again on Monday. The Eagles added Roh is expected to be sidelined for a minimum of three weeks due to "a great deal of inflammation" in his shoulder. In 2023, Roh led the KBO with 31 home runs and 101 RBIs, both of them his career highs. He was the only player last year with at least 30 homers and 100 RBIs, and he finished second to NC Dinos pitcher Erick Fedde in the regular season MVP voting. In 82 games this season, Roh is leading the Eagles with 18 home runs and 60 RBIs, and is seventh and tied for 12th overall, respectively. Roh participated in the home run derby during the All-Star break on Friday, but shoulder pains kept him out of the All-Star Game the following evening. The Eagles en ded the first half of the season in ninth place, second from the bottom, at 36-44-2 (wins-losses-ties). They are only 3.5 games out of the fifth and final postseason spot, but will have to make that climb without their top power hitter for at least three weeks.
