Taipei: Retired NBA star Carmelo Anthony has touched down in Taiwan, marking a significant prelude to his forthcoming induction into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. Anthony, known affectionately to fans as "Melo," landed at Taoyuan International Airport at approximately 5 a.m. on Friday. His visit is highlighted by an appearance at the GQ Style Fest, scheduled to take place at Warehouse No. 4 in the Songshan Cultural and Creative Park in Taipei on Saturday.

According to Focus Taiwan, during the GQ Style Fest, Anthony will engage with fans by participating in a photo session with 80 attendees. The GQ staff plans to distribute queue numbers starting at 9:30 a.m., with an additional 20 numbers available for backup attendees. This event is a notable opportunity for fans to interact with one of basketball's legendary figures.

Anthony, who retired at the age of 41, was the third overall pick in the 2003 NBA draft and is esteemed as one of the NBA's most prolific scorers. His career, spanning 19 seasons, concluded with an impressive 28,289 points, positioning him 10th on the NBA's all-time scoring list. Anthony's athletic prowess was evidenced by his signature jab step and pull-up jumper, which became iconic elements of his gameplay.

Beyond his regular-season achievements, Anthony secured the 2012-13 scoring title and was selected for the All-NBA team six times. His international success is highlighted by leading Team USA to three Olympic gold medals. His contributions to basketball were further recognized when he was named among the league's top 75 players in history. Anthony, who announced his retirement in 2023, was elected to the Hall of Fame in April. He will be honored on September 6 for his illustrious NBA career and his pivotal role on the 2008 U.S. Olympic "Redeem Team," which clinched gold at the Beijing Games.
