S. Korea, EU to conduct joint research on semiconductor, communications network technologies

SEOUL, South Korea and the European Union (EU) have agreed to conduct joint research projects on advanced semiconductor and next-generation communications network technologies in the next three years, Seoul’s science ministry said Wednesday.

Under the agreement, South Korea and the EU will jointly invest 12 million euros (US$12.98 million) on neuromorphic computing and heterogeneous integration of semiconductors by 2027.

The two sides will also funnel 5 million euros into the fifth and sixth generation network technologies.

They also plan to expand cooperation in artificial intelligence, quantum technology and cybersecurity.
