Taipei:Three surges of seasonal winds are expected to affect Taiwan over the coming days, bringing cooler weather and occasional rain to windward areas, the Central Weather Administration (CWA) announced Friday.
According to Focus Taiwan, the first surge will affect Taiwan through Saturday, bringing brief showers to the north coast, Greater Taipei, eastern Taiwan, and the Hengchun Peninsula in the south. A second wave is anticipated around Monday, bringing more rain to areas north of Taoyuan and eastern Taiwan.
The seasonal winds are forecast to weaken on Wednesday before strengthening again on Thursday and Friday, when localized showers are expected in areas north of Taoyuan and eastern Taiwan. CWA forecaster Chang Cheng-chuan indicated that northern and northeastern Taiwan will begin to feel cooler on Saturday, while temperatures are expected to rise on Sunday before the next wave arrives.
Meanwhile, Typhoon In-fa is expected to turn north in waters south of Japan, with its closest point 2,000 kilometers from Taiwan. Although the typhoon is not expected to directly affect Taiwan, large swells could impact northern and eastern coastal areas and the Hengchun Peninsula from Sunday into the following week.
