South Korean boy band Seventeen has clinched the Best Group award at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards in New York. The award, previously known as Group of the Year, has been dominated by K-pop acts in recent years. BTS won it for four consecutive years, beginning in 2019, followed by girl group BLACKPINK in 2023. Seventeen, however, did not attend the awards ceremony held at UBS Arena on Wednesday night (U.S. time). "It feels special to receive an award for 'Rockstar,' which was a personally meaningful comeback," Lisa said in her acceptance speech. She also performed the song and her ne w single "New Woman" during the ceremony. In another triumph for K-pop, girl group Le Sserafim won Push Performance of the Year for its song "Easy." The prize honors the best artist from among those chosen for the U.S. music channel's "MTV Push" campaign, which features interviews and other content with a different artist each month. The group showcased its new tracks "Crazy" and "1-800-hot-n-fun" during the ceremony's preshow.
