Taipei: Germ¡n Bejarano Garca, Spain’s former ambassador to Malaysia and Brunei, has taken up his post as Madrid’s new representative to Taiwan, according to the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Taiwan.
According to Focus Taiwan, Bejarano expressed his commitment to fostering stronger ties and cooperation between Taiwan and Spain, focusing on sectors such as trade, culture, and tourism. He shared this message in a social media post on Tuesday, emphasizing his dedication to enhancing bilateral relations.
Bejarano officially assumed office on Monday, succeeding former envoy Eduardo Euba Aldape. In his new role, he will serve as the director of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Taiwan, representing Spain’s interests in the region due to the absence of formal diplomatic relations between the two entities.
In his social media message, Bejarano highlighted his extensive experience in public organizations, particularly in areas related to trade and economic affairs, as a foundation for his new responsibilities in Taiwan.
