Taipei: Starlux Airlines began selling tickets on its new Taichung-Nagoya route on Thursday, with the maiden flight scheduled for Oct. 25.

According to Focus Taiwan, the airline announced that starting Oct. 25, Starlux will connect central Taiwan and central Japan with flights between Taichung and Nagoya. The route will utilize the airline's Airbus A321neo aircraft.

Flights will initially be available on Oct. 25, 26, 28, and 30. In November, flights will operate daily, before transitioning to a schedule of every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday in December.

Starlux noted that with the addition of Nagoya, the airline will now serve 12 international destinations from Taichung.

In a press release, Starlux CEO Glenn Chai stated that the company will continue to expand its presence in the Taichung market to facilitate travel for tourists from central Taiwan. Chai highlighted Nagoya's significance as the largest city in central Japan, serving as a key gateway for tourists exploring the region.

He emphasized that Nagoya's rich history and cuisine, along with its proximity to attractions such as Shirakawa-go, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and Kanazawa, a city known for historical architecture and seafood, make it an attractive destination for travelers.
