Sudan’s Envoy in Geneva Briefs UN and International Bodies on Militia Atrocities in El-Fashir and Bara

Geneva: As part of the ongoing efforts by Sudan’s Permanent Mission in Geneva to brief the international community on the horrific atrocities committed by the rebel Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia in El-Fashir, Ambassador Hassan Hamid, Sudan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office in Geneva, delivered a briefing to Dr. Nada Al-Nashif, Deputy High Commissioner for Human Rights, and senior officials from the Africa and Sudan Sections at the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR).

According to Focus Taiwan, Ambassador Hamid presented detailed accounts of the brutal crimes perpetrated by the terrorist militia in and around El-Fashir since 26 October, emphasizing that the international community’s failure to take decisive action against the militia since the outbreak of its rebellion-and its continued silence toward the United Arab Emirates (UAE), which sponsors and supplies it with unlimited military support, weapons, and mercenaries-has emboldened the group to commit these horrific atrocities.

He further outlined evidence of ethnically motivated executions, including the mass killings of patients, caregivers, and medical staff at the Saudi Maternity Hospital in El-Fashir, and also detailed similar atrocities committed by the militia in Bara.

The Ambassador stressed that such conduct reflects the militia’s consistent pattern of violence in every city it has invaded, noting that the events in El-Fashir mirror the same scenario previously carried out in Al-Geneina, Khartoum, and Al-Gezira.

It is worth noting that the Mission’s briefing activities in Geneva have so far included meetings with the UN Special Rapporteur on Violence against Women, the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), the European Union Delegation in Geneva, and the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
