Taihan Cable and Solution Co., South Korea's second-biggest cable company, said Tuesday it has completed building a fiber optic cable plant in Kuwait to expand into the Middle East market. Under a partnership with local builder Rank General Trading and Contracting Co., Taihan Cable has built the plant, the first of its kind in Kuwait, in Mina Abdullah Industrial Area, southeast of Kuwait City, the company said in a statement. The production facility will help the company strengthen its presence in global markets amid rising demand for fiber optic cables due to 5G infrastructure expansion and smart city construction, it said. With the addition of the Kuwaiti plant, Taihan Cable has seven production facilities that include three in South Korea, one in Saudi Arabia, one in South Africa, and one in Vietnam.
