Osaka: The Taipei City government’s Department of Information and Tourism participated in Expo 2025 in Osaka to promote tourism in Taiwan’s capital city. The department organized a one-day event in the expo’s Osaka Healthcare Pavilion, featuring local exhibition halls for the Osaka region’s prefecture, city, universities, and businesses.
According to Focus Taiwan, the event was attended by tourism department Deputy Commissioner Shiue Chiu-huo and Osaka Convention and Tourism Bureau President Hiroshi Mizohata. Taipei’s tourism mascot, Bravo the bear, played a central role, engaging visitors in interactive activities such as the mascot’s signature dance and prize-winning games. Bravo also teamed up with Expo 2025’s mascot, Myaku-Myaku, to jointly promote Taipei and the Osaka-held World Expo, which continues until October 13.
Shiue mentioned that the collaboration with Osaka’s tourism bureau aimed to leverage the tens of millions of visitors Expo 2025 had attracted to showcase Taipei’s attractions. Shiue emphasized the intention to highlight Taipei’s urban charm to global travelers. During the event, Shiue presented Osaka Prefecture Governor Hirofumi Yoshimura with souvenirs and extended a personal invitation to visit Taipei.
Mizohata shared his experiences of visiting Taipei, recalling his participation in the Taipei Marathon last year. He encouraged Japanese travelers to explore Taipei, highlighting the city’s unique delicacies, hot springs, and welcoming atmosphere. To incentivize travel, Taipei’s tourism department offered discounts at designated shops in Taipei for expo visitors presenting their ticket and passport.
