Taipei: The 2025 Taipei Summer Festival kicked off Wednesday at Dadaocheng Wharf with the first of four fireworks shows, themed "A Sea of Purple and Crimson." The five-minute display unfolded in four parts, starting with a burst of "thunderous birds" and dual-layer, color-shifting chrysanthemum fireworks that created a dreamlike play of light and shadow. It ended with a dramatic cascade of golden waterfalls.
According to Focus Taiwan, the design blended purple and multicolor gradient fireworks, capturing Dadaocheng's spirit as a place where history meets modern energy, as stated by Yu Hsiang, director of the Taipei Department of Information and Tourism. A concert featuring Ms. Alpaca, SMY, NUTS, and Gujifudaoshi took place before the fireworks, while Golden Melody-winning duo Power Station closed out the night with a high-energy set.
The festival runs through Aug. 30, with other fireworks shows scheduled for 8 p.m. on Aug. 13, 20, and 30.
