Taiwan Criticizes China’s Sanctions on Diplomatic Allies’ Ministers

Taipei:Taiwan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) has condemned China's recent decision to impose sanctions on two ministers from Taiwan's diplomatic allies, labeling them as "anti-China politicians."

According to Focus Taiwan, China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that Belizean Foreign Minister Francis Fonseca and Paraguayan Minister of Information Gustavo Villate would be barred from entering China, with their assets and other properties in the country frozen. The sanctions target politicians who have maintained diplomatic ties with Taiwan, which Beijing considers a violation of its core interests.

Belize and Paraguay are among the 12 nations that recognize Taipei over Beijing. MOFA criticized the sanctions as "preposterous," characterizing them as interference in other countries' sovereignty and diplomacy. The ministry accused China of using political intimidation and transnational repression to further its agenda, which they described as "despicable."

The Taiwanese ministry emphasized its commitment to its diplomatic allies, including Belize and Paraguay, and vowed to continue fostering cooperation and prosperity while resisting authoritarian influences.
