Taiwan Donates 68 Emergency Vehicles to Ukraine to Aid War Efforts

Lviv: Sixty-eight ambulances and fire trucks, donated by Taiwanese private groups and fire agencies, were delivered to Ukraine on Thursday to support frontline rescue efforts in war-affected areas.

According to Focus Taiwan, the rescue vehicles were mainly sourced from fire departments across New Taipei, Taipei, Taichung, Tainan, and Kaohsiung, with additional contributions from non-government groups. The donation ceremony was held by the Lviv city government, where Taiwan Association of Community Advancement Secretary-General Lin Wei-lian detailed the origins of the vehicles.

With the Russia-Ukrainian War ongoing for five years, the Taiwan Association of Community Advancement has collaborated with other private groups in four rounds of vehicle donations, providing over 200 vehicles to date. Most of these vehicles were refurbished before shipment, despite concerns about the shipping routes being affected by the war.

Jeff Liu, Taiwan’s representative to Poland, participated in the ceremony virtually, expressing gratitude to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for its coordination and assistance. He reaffirmed Taiwan’s commitment to supporting Ukraine and standing with freedom.

Olga Kulish, a Ukrainian married to a Taiwanese, highlighted the high demand for rescue vehicles during the war and expressed Ukraine’s gratitude for Taiwan’s support. Soldiers at the ceremony presented their emblems to show appreciation.

Deputy Lviv Mayor Andriy Moskalenko and Deputy Kharkiv Mayor Ivan Kuznetsov thanked Taiwan for its ongoing support, noting that the donated vehicles would enhance the medical system and strengthen rescue capacities in Ukraine.
