Taiwan Railway to Increase Online Booking Cap to Nine Tickets

Taipei: Taiwan Railway Corp. (TR) announced plans to increase its daily cap on individual online ticket bookings from six to nine next year. This change aims to better accommodate small groups of travelers.

According to Focus Taiwan, TR’s new policy will allow groups of up to nine people to book adjacent seats in a single transaction. Currently, this convenience is only available for group reservations consisting of 10 or more passengers. Under existing regulations, each passenger with a Taiwanese ID or foreign passport can book up to six one-way tickets per day via TR’s website or convenience store kiosks. An additional six return tickets are permitted if the journey starts and ends on the same day.

The company stated that the new limit is expected to be officially announced and implemented in January.
