Nagoya:Aichi: Taiwan, competing as Chinese Taipei, has achieved a total of 33 medals at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, including 3 gold, 7 silver, and 23 bronze, as of 9 p.m. Monday.

According to Focus Taiwan, the Asian Games are currently taking place in Japan's Aichi Prefecture and Nagoya, spanning from September 19 to October 4.

Since first participating in the Asian Games in 1954, Taiwan has accumulated 586 medals overall, comprising 118 gold, 164 silver, and 304 bronze. In the previous edition in Hangzhou, China, in 2022, Taiwan secured 19 gold, 20 silver, and 28 bronze medals, ranking sixth overall. This equaled Taiwan's 1998 Bangkok Asian Games performance for the most gold medals won at an Asian Games.

Taiwan's total of 67 medals in Hangzhou matched its 2010 Guangzhou and 2018 Jakarta performances, ranking as the second highest in its history, following the 77 medals won in Bangkok in 1998.

This year, Taiwan has sent 482 athletes to compete in 34 sports. Notably, the table tennis team features Lin Yun-ju and Cheng I-ching. The boxing team includes Huang Hsiao-wen, Lin Yu-ting, and Chen Nien-chin. The badminton team is represented by five-time Asian Games participant Chou Tien-chen and three-time participant Wang Chi-lin, while the swimming team is led by Wang Kuan-hung, who made history by winning Taiwan's first Asian Games medal in the men's butterfly events at the Hangzhou Games.
