Taiwan Semiconductor Cybersecurity Firm Establishes European R&D Hub in Brno


Taipei: Jmem Technology Co., a Taiwan-based semiconductor cybersecurity solution provider, has inaugurated a new office in Brno, the Czech Republic’s second largest city, with ambitions to establish the location as its European research and development center.

According to Focus Taiwan, the opening event took place at Brno University of Technology and was attended by governmental representatives from Taiwan and the Czech Republic, as well as leaders from academia and industry. John Chang, founder and CEO of Jmem Technology, highlighted that since 2025, his company has been collaborating with Brno’s academic community through the Advanced Chip Design and Research Center (ACDRC). The ACDRC, a joint initiative established in 2024, involves Taiwan’s National Applied Research Laboratories (NARLabs) and the Czech Republic’s Cybersecurity Hub, which includes Masaryk University, Brno University of Technology, and Czech Technical University.

r talent in Taiwan, who then return to contribute to the Czech Republic’s R and D efforts. Filip Chvátal, deputy mayor of Brno, expressed that Jmem Technology’s presence is a welcome addition to the city’s robust academic and technological landscape, expecting it to enhance Brno’s international profile.

The company also signed a memorandum of understanding with the Czech National Semiconductor Cluster, aiming to kickstart the country’s national semiconductor strategy. This MOU establishes a framework for cooperation in semiconductor cybersecurity inspection and the standardization of international security protocols.

Tsai Hung-yin, president of NARLabs, lauded the ACDRC project as an innovative model of international collaboration that integrates research and development, talent cultivation, and industrial policy implementation. He noted that the initiative equips Czech professionals with integrated circuit design training in Taiwan, enabling them to foster industrial advancement upon their return.
