Taipei: The Taiwan Stock Exchange’s main index experienced a decline as trading commenced, opening down by 111.52 points at 24,258.5. The initial turnover was recorded at NT$8.15 billion, equivalent to approximately US$272 million.

According to Focus Taiwan, the drop in the index reflects a cautious atmosphere among investors as trading began. The turnover figure suggests a moderate level of activity in the early phase of the trading session.
