Taipei:The Taiwan Stock Exchange's main index experienced an increase as trading commenced. The index opened up by 161.40 points, reaching 46,454.33.

According to Focus Taiwan, the turnover at the start of trading amounted to NT$9.06 billion, equivalent to approximately US$277.54 million.
