Taiwan Triumphs at Moson Model Show with 11 Medals

Taipei: Taiwanese contestants took home five gold medals, five silvers, and one bronze medal last weekend at Hungary’s Moson Model Show (MMS), one of the world’s leading competitions for creative and scale models. The event was held in the town of Mosonmagyar³v¡r and attracted nearly 2,000 entries from 800 competitors representing 42 countries.

According to Focus Taiwan, Taiwan’s Wang Cheng-I won gold in a model ship category with his scale reproduction of a Tone-class cruiser, a type of warship used by the Japanese Imperial Navy during World War II, which he spent seven years completing. Meanwhile, Chen Tse-jen achieved remarkable success, earning medals for all three of his entries, including gold medals in the science-fiction bust and historical figure categories and a silver in the science-fiction figure category.

Fan Cheng-pin, who led the Taiwanese delegation, commented that the contestants had the opportunity to meet and learn from many of the world’s top model builders at the event. This experience is expected to enhance their craftsmanship in future competitions.
