Iksan: Taiwanese badminton player Chiu Pin-chian clinched the women’s singles title at the Korea Masters 2025 in Iksan, South Korea, after securing a victory against her Vietnamese rival on Sunday. This achievement marks a significant milestone in Chiu’s career as it is her first finals appearance in a Badminton World Federation (BWF) Super 300 event.
According to Focus Taiwan, the 26-year-old athlete, currently holding the world No. 20 ranking, defeated Vietnam’s Nguy?n Th¹y Linh with scores of 21-16, 21-15. Speaking to CNA post-match, Chiu expressed her excitement and humorously noted the goosebumps she felt when she realized victory was imminent. She credited her rigorous training sessions, particularly her “battles” with the treadmill, for this success, describing the win as a form of “self-affirmation.”
Chiu’s coach, Ku Tsun-ang, highlighted her evolution as a player, explaining that she was often overshadowed by peers in her earlier years, which impacted her confidence. However, Ku emphasized that Chiu’s solid foundation in badminton, coupled with her extensive experience against a variety of international competitors, has been instrumental in her development this season. “I know this championship is very meaningful to her, and I hope she will continue to evolve as a player in even bigger tournaments in the future,” Ku remarked.
