Taipei: Taiwan’s Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung departed Taipei on Thursday for a four-day visit to Palau, accompanied by several Taiwanese business representatives, to explore opportunities for further collaboration with the Pacific ally, according to his ministry.
According to Focus Taiwan, the delegation, led by Lin, includes representatives from Taiwan’s tourism, medical, and green energy sectors, as stated in a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA). The visit, scheduled from Thursday to Sunday, aims to review the investment and business cooperation between the two countries over the past year and to discuss future collaboration.
As Taiwan gears up to participate in the 2026 Pacific Islands Forum hosted by Palau, the delegation will emphasize Taiwan’s strengths in innovative technology, smart medicine, digital resilience, and sustainable development, the foreign ministry highlighted. The diplomatic relationship between Palau and Taiwan has been in place since 1999, maintaining Palau as one of Taiwan’s 12 allies globally.
