Taiwan’s Kuo Li-yang Clinches Silver in Men’s 200m Track at Chengdu World Games

Chengdu: Taiwanese speed skater Kuo Li-yang secured a silver medal in the men’s 200-meter dual time track final at the 2025 World Games in Chengdu, China. Kuo, aged 22, completed the race in 17.305 seconds, trailing Spain’s Jhoan Sebastian Guzman Bitar by a mere 0.141 seconds, who took home the gold.

According to Focus Taiwan, the bronze medal was awarded to Colombian skater Jhon Edwar Tascon Holguin, who finished the 200-meter race with a time of 17.581 seconds. Kuo, who is participating in five roller sports events at the World Games, had previously failed to secure a podium position in the 100 m road sprint held on Wednesday.

In a post-race interview, Kuo expressed satisfaction with his silver medal, stating that after missing out on a medal in the road race, he was pleased to have succeeded in the track event. He mentioned feeling more relaxed and ready to concentrate on his upcoming competitions.

Kuo later competed in the men’s 500 m sprint but did not advance to the final, finishing third in his semifinal round with a time of 42.949 seconds.
