Aichi-Nagoya:Taiwan's men's 4x100-meter relay team clinched the silver medal at the Asian Games on Monday night, marking the country's first relay medal at the Games since 2010. The team set a new national record with a time of 38.32 seconds. According to Focus Taiwan, the team, consisting of Lai Po-hsiang, Chen Wen-pu, Huang Zuo-jyun, and Yang Chun-han, finished behind China, which secured the gold with a time of 38.17 seconds. South Korea earned the bronze medal, completing the race in 38.43 seconds. Taiwan's previous national record was 38.41 seconds, set in June. This silver medal was Taiwan's third in athletics at the current Games. It followed Fu Chao-hsuan's gold in the men's high jump and Lin Chung-wei's bronze in the men's 400-meter hurdles. Yang Chun-han, who was competing in his fourth Asian Games, played a crucial role as the anchor by overtaking South Korea to secure second place. Yang expressed that the team had felt confident after the heats and had even considered the possibility of winning gold. Despite not achieving that, the silver was significant for him as it was his first Asian Games relay medal. Huang Zuo-jyun became emotional after the race, dedicating his performance to his late mother. Huang had overcome physical challenges following the heats and prayed for strength to help the team succeed. Chen Wen-pu also faced adversity, as he raced despite a torn plantar fascia that he had been dealing with since July. The addition of this silver medal brought Taiwan's total medal count at the Games to three golds, eight silvers, and 23 bronzes.
