Busan: Taiwanese actor Tseng Jing-hua won Best Lead Actor at the Global OTT Awards 2026 in Busan, South Korea, on Saturday for his performance in "Had I Not Seen the Sun."
According to Focus Taiwan, a statement released Monday by the Taiwan Creative Content Agency (TAICCA) highlighted Tseng's victory over other nominees in the category, including South Korea's Hyun Bin and Kim Seonho, Japan's Ryoma Takeuchi, and China's Song Weilong. The Taiwanese fantasy series "Agent From Above" also secured an award for Best Visual Effects, emphasizing Taiwan's strong performance at the annual streaming-content awards.
"There's still so much potential in acting. Don't give up on art," Tseng expressed after receiving the award from Taiwanese actress Vivian Sung. Four Taiwanese actors, including Sung, Tseng, Suri Lin, and Chiang Chi, attended the event in Busan as presenters, TAICCA said.
Sung, who presented an award at the ceremony in 2024, returned as a member of the final judging panel this year. She shared that the experience exposed her to many sincere productions and reinforced her belief in the power of stories that deeply resonate with audiences.
Lin, last year's Best Newcomer (Female) winner for "Born for the Spotlight," returned as a presenter to help announce the newcomer award. Chiang, who was nominated for Best Newcomer (Female) for "Had I Not Seen the Sun," joined Tseng in presenting the Best Visual Effects and Best Original Song awards. "Agent From Above" won Best Visual Effects, with visual effects supervisor Tomi Kuo accepting the award.
Taiwanese productions received further recognition, with "City Founding Pioneer" nominated for Best Asian Contents and Best Writer. Sue Wang, TAICCA chairperson and deputy culture minister, emphasized the participation of Taiwanese actors as a reflection of Taiwan's film and television industry's strength and resilience.
"Seeing four actors represent Taiwan on the Global OTT Awards stage reflects the strength and professionalism of Taiwan's film and television industry," Wang stated. She added that Taiwan aims to bring more homegrown talent to the global stage through targeted international promotion and resource integration.
