Taoyuan Airport MRT to Introduce Additional Weekday Evening Train Service

Taipei: The Taoyuan Airport MRT is set to enhance its service by adding an extra train from Taipei to Taoyuan Airport starting September 21. This move aims to alleviate congestion during the weekday evening rush hour, as announced by the operator on Monday.

According to Focus Taiwan, Taoyuan Metro revealed in a press release that the new train will depart from Taipei Main Station (A1) at 6:04 p.m. on weekdays. It will make stops at each station en route before arriving at Taoyuan Airport Terminal 2 (A13) at 6:50 p.m. This additional service will improve the frequency of trains departing from Taipei Main Station to the airport to every 5.5 minutes on average between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m., compared to the current interval of six minutes.

Passengers heading towards Taoyuan HSR Station (A18) or Zhongli can transfer at Taoyuan Airport Terminal 2 (A13) to continue their journey on a subsequent train. This adjustment is expected to provide more convenience and reduce wait times for commuters.

Taoyuan Metro also reported that up to the end of August this year, the average daily ridership on the Taoyuan Airport MRT reached a historic high of 130,681. This service is not only utilized by travelers but also by students and workers commuting to residential areas in New Taipei's Xinzhuang District and Taoyuan's Linkou and Guishan districts from Taipei Main Station.
