Taipei: Temperatures across Taiwan are expected to rise on Thursday as a weather front that had lingered over the country moves south into the Bashi Channel, the Central Weather Administration (CWA) said. CWA forecaster Lin Ting-yi noted that while moisture levels would remain high on Thursday, bringing showers and thundershowers across Taiwan, the rain is expected to gradually decrease throughout the day.
According to Focus Taiwan, the agency issued a heavy rain advisory for offshore Penghu County early Thursday but later lifted the alert. Lin Ting-yi highlighted that areas south of Hsinchu, as well as mountainous regions in Hualien and Taitung counties, have a high likelihood of experiencing localized showers. However, the rain is predicted to subside as the day progresses.
Meanwhile, with the weather front moving away, temperatures are anticipated to rise on Thursday. Lin forecast temperatures of 27 to 29 degrees Celsius in northern and eastern Taiwan, while central and southern regions could reach 31 to 32 degrees.
Lin also mentioned the potential development of a tropical disturbance between the waters east of the Philippines and the South China Sea next week. However, the strength and exact location of this disturbance remain uncertain, necessitating further monitoring for a more accurate report.
