The Department of Corrections takes people who made mistakes to perform public service for society, 'Eradicate Black-chinned Tilapia.' Pol. Col. Thawee Sodsong, Minister of Justice, has ordered the Department of Corrections to urgently support prison labor to help society in cooperation with local agencies in the province. This is to prevent the black chin tilapia from having the opportunity to reproduce, which will affect local aquatic farmers and the public, as well as the ecosystem in natural water sources. Therefore, the Department of Corrections has carried out a proactive integrated activity to help society (in the form of CSR). By Samut Songkhram Central Prison, 8 inmates were taken out to work outside the prison, supporting labor in collaboration with Samut Songkhram Provincial Fisheries to enter the area to catch 200 kilograms of black-chinned tilapia. The mission has taken into account the safety of the prisoners in the highest regard, in line with human rights principles, and increased efficien cy in controlling prisoners, while avoiding risky procedures such as going into deep water, etc. Source: Thai News Agency
