Reporters reported that the meeting of the Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation Committee (HEC) today (8 August) followed up on the progress of the black-chinned tilapia outbreak by inviting 11 private companies that exported it to clarify the facts. After more than 2 hours of explanation, Mr. Wichaiyut Chaemchote, an export officer of Asia Aquatics Co., Ltd., revealed to the media that the company has never imported or exported black-chinned tilapia. Today, a representative submitted evidence to the committee that the information that was released that Asia Aquatics Co., Ltd. exported black-chinned tilapia was due to an incorrect information filled in by the shipping company. In the part about the sc ientific name Sorotherodon melanotheron 1 lot, there were 900 fish, but in reality, the fish were 'dogfish', scientific name Brachy Gobius sp., which is an ornamental fish because the company is in the ornamental fish export business. This was a mistake that occurred only once and was not the fault of the company. Mr. Wichaiyut added that the information from all companies was in the same direction, that it was caused by an error in filling in the export information of the shipping company. It is expected that this may be because the shipping company does not have expertise in fish species because it has to transport many types of animals. For today's clarification, the committee summoned a total of 11 private companies, but only 5 companies came forward to provide clarification: Thai Qian Wu Co., Ltd., Advance Aquatics Co., Ltd., Smitra Aquarium Partnership Co., Ltd., PandP Aquarium World Trading Co., Ltd., and Asia Aquatics Co., Ltd.
