Chiang Mai, The Royal Thai Army Headquarters, represented by the Department of Military Civil Affairs, led a group of media from the central region to participate in a public relations project to support border organization in Chiang Mai Province from July 8-10, 2024. Maj. Gen. Witai Laithomya, Director of the Public Relations Office, Department of Military Civil Affairs, led the military media group to visit the Northern Petroleum Development Center, Department of Military Energy, Office of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Defense, Fang District, Chiang Mai Province. Maj. Gen. Montree Chinnakon, Director of the Northern Petroleum Development Center, Department of Military Energy, welcomed and gave a briefing on the unit's mission, the development of the unit's efficiency to be modern, as well as the development of personnel to be specialized and skilled in order to maintain the capability to manage the country's oil resources for use in security missions and to reserve crude oil for the country in time s of crisis that may arise in the future. They also visited the Energy Museum, Fang Oil Refinery, and Mae Soon Oil Drilling Area, Fang District, Chiang Mai Province. Then, the media group was taken to learn about the national defense mission of the Ban Nor Lae Operations Base in Doi Ang Khang, Chiang Mai Province. It is a platoon-level operation base of the 3rd Cavalry Company, Pha Dam Control Division, Chaiya Nuphap Task Force, Pha Muang Task Force, which is located on the Thai-Myanmar border. In the past, this area had a history of fighting and ethnic minority migration. Then in 1987, the operation base was established to carry out the mission of intercepting drugs, illegal immigration through natural channels, etc. Taking the media group from the central region to join the public relations project to support border order in Chiang Mai Province this time will allow the media to be informed of the work of military officers along the border in their duty as important checkpoints to block illegal activities and as a strong and stable national fence to create safety for the country and all Thai people.
